One of the patriarchs of Wesmen men's volleyball, Dennis Nord will forever be remembered as one of the most impactful figures in the program's history. 

Nord captained the Wesmen men's team to its first Canadian university championship in 1968-69 and when his playing days were over took a seat on the Wesmen bench as a coach, helping the team build its first dynasty with four straight national titles from 1970 to 1974. 

Nord coached with the national team at the 1976 Olympics and later became the head coach of the national program, and his advocacy work for the sport is regarded as foundational for volleyball remaining a marquis sport in the province to this day. 

Dennis is a member of the Manitoba Volleyball Hall of Fame, the Sport Manitoba Hall of Fame and, in 2019, was inducted as a member of the 1971-74 Wesmen into the Canada West Hall of Fame.
